Performing a factory reset on smartphones, tablets, and computers is a common practice. It is useful while troubleshooting persistent issues, giving away, or selling the gadget. Factory resets are something that everybody should be aware of.
The process isn’t rocket science and can be carried out without any professional help. It’s worth noting that factory resetting a device wipes out everything, so it’s recommended to back up all the data before you do it.
Factory resetting could get slightly confusing if you own both Android and Apple devices. There are only a few differences in the process of restoring the device to its original state. Apple iPads, the most popular tablets in the market, come with soft reset, force restart, and factory reset options. The last thing can be performed in two ways: through the device’s settings or by connecting it to a Mac or Windows computer.

In this post, we show you the way to factory reset an iPad.
How to force reset iPad
Resetting an iPad to factory settings is a simple process. You just need to follow the steps outlined below.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your iPad
Step 2: Tap General
Step 3: Scroll to the bottom and select Transfer or Reset iPad
Step 4: Choose Erase All Content and Settings
Step 5: When prompted, enter your iPad passcode and Apple ID password
The factory reset process will now begin and will take some time to complete. Once the restore is done, you will be greeted with a setup screen similar to the first time you booted the iPad.
Factory reset using a computer
You cannot factory reset an iPad from settings if you don’t remember the device’s passcode or Apple ID password. In such a case, you must use your Mac or Windows computer.
