After the iPhone 15 series was announced in September last year, Apple’s flagship iPhone 15 Pro Max was riddled with issues, most of which were promptly fixed with a small iOS update. However, a couple more smaller updates down the line, Apple has reportedly ended the year with what seems like an update that’s far from problem free.
A number of users have reported facing multiple small issues with the latest iOS update, iOS 17.2.1. As per a report by BGR, iOS 17.2.1 seems to cause problems with network connectivity, periodically disabling iPhones on the software from connecting to a mobile network. This is a problem because many iPhone users across the world continue to rely on mobile network connectivity, especially when they’re on the move, and don’t have Wi-Fi.
How to fix iOS 17.2.1 network connectivity bugs
Thankfully, while we hope for Apple to work on a fix for the same, we need not suffer. A few small steps may be great temporary workarounds/fixes for your iPhone. Here are four ways to possibly fix the network issues.

Note that while these steps may work for some users, it may nor fix the network connectivity issues on all iPhones. A more reliable way to fix the issue would to wait for an official hotfix update from Apple itself.
- Reset Network Settings – Navigate to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset and tap on Reset Network Settings to get your network options back to factory settings. This may iron out any conflicts in the network settings and fix your problem.
- Delete VPN profiles – The report also states that removing any VPN profiles seemed to be a working fix for many users. To do this, navigate to Settings > General > VPN and Device Management > VPN. Tap on the ‘I’ on a VPN profile and choose the delete option to remove it.

- Reset your iPhone – If the above steps don’t work, you may want to consider resetting your iPhone completely to remove any other deeper conflicts. Of course, make sure to take an iCloud backup before this to make sure you don’t lose any of your files/media.
- Update to iOS 17.3 beta – While Apple has not released an official iOS 17.3 update just yet, users can try switching to the beta testing program to get an early taste of iOS 17.3. Since the last iOS 17.3 beta update was released before iOS 17.2.1, your network may stop acting up after the update.
Those are four ways to fix the network bugs that you’ve been facing. If none of these steps work for you, your best bet is to wait for the next official stable update, which we hope Apple is working on.
