An easy guide to disabling unwanted calls on the platform

How to disable audio, video calls on X (Formerly Twitter)

X, formerly known as Twitter, has completely transformed into an all-purpose social media platform. The service, which began as a text-based social media platform with a 140-character limit, is now trying to compete with the likes of Facebook and WhatsApp by adding audio and video calling features. The new features being added by X  are an attempt to meet Elon Musk’s goal of making X a super app.

At first, the audio and video calling feature was exclusive to premium subscribers on the platform. However, X reversed course and automatically enabled the feature for all users who have their phone number connected to their account. By default, X users you follow can call you but questions are being raised about privacy, since using X to call can reveal your IP address. The solution is simple – disable audio and video calls on X.

Under the stewardship of Musk, X wants to be more than a platform where people post their opinions on all things. He wants it to be a digital town square that allows for sharing, calling, and even payments in future.

The only question that remains is whether Musk can do so sustainably while also maintaining privacy and integrity of the platform.
