How to create multiple profiles on Facebook

Sometimes separate is simpler, isn’t it? To organise your experience on Facebook, users can create multiple personal profiles. Whether you are a long-time user or a newbie, you may want to keep your personal and professional relationships separate. With this new feature Facebook now allows you to create up to four auxiliary profiles and link them to your main account. These auxiliary profiles can include your own feeds, friend lists, and the permission to follow pages, and groups.

If you are planning to create multiple profiles for your business, navigating communities, and other purposes on Facebook, let’s check out how to do it.

Steps to create multiple profiles on Facebook

Follow these steps to create multiple profiles on Facebook.

Creating profiles using Facebook app

To create multiple profiles with the Facebook app on your phone, open the app and log in to your main account. Tap on the three-line menu icon and the Menu options will open. Tap on the drop-down icon just beside your main account profile name from your Android phone.

For iPhone users, you will find a “+” sign next to your profile name. Once you tap on the “+” or drop-down icon, you will find a “Create new profile” under the “Your profiles and pages” menu. Select the “Get started” option and follow the on-screen prompts. You will be asked to enter your profile’s username, and a confirmation to create the profile.

Creating profiles using browser

The profile creation is not just restricted to the app version but works on the browser too. To create multiple Facebook profiles from the web browser, login to your main account from facebook.com.

Select your profile picture at the top right corner. You will find a “See all profiles” menu. Tap on the “Create new profile” option. Enter your profile name, and it will generate an automated username. You can either go with the auto-generated one or create your own username. After you are done with entering the details, tap on Continue and review the information on the “Important profile information screen”. After reviewing, select the “Create profile” option.

Switching between multiple profiles

After you have created your auxiliary profiles, open the Facebook app, and click on the three-line menu. Tap on the drop-down option or the “+” icon depending on whether you are using Android or iPhone respectively. You will find your auxiliary accounts listed under your main profile. Select the profile you want to switch to, and you are done.

On the other hand, if you are using browser, go to your rrofile picture in the top right corner, and click on “See all profiles” to view the full list of your Facebook profiles. Select the profile you wish to use and automatically it will switch over.
