Known for introducing new and exciting features from time to time, Instagram has its ways of keeping users on their toes to keep up with the latest trends. Today, the social media platform announced a new feature that can help find profiles on Instagram and let people reach you with a custom QR code. If that’s not all, it can also save you the trouble of finding the correct handle and going through your mutuals.
Instead of sharing your profile with a link, users will now be able to share it in the form of a digital business card coined as an ‘Instagram profile card’. Here’s how this works.
Instagram profile cards
Instagram has come up with a two-sided profile card with one side featuring a scannable QR code and the other side your IG handle, profile picture, short bio, and even a song of your choice. You can also add links or change the background to add an extra flavour to your profile card.

The profile card can work in two ways. One way is to share them so that someone has an all-in-one look at your interests. Also, it becomes easier to share your account with others, but in a fun way.
The other way is that creators use these profile cards to provide businesses or other collaborators with relevant links along with their contact information.
How to create Instagram profile cards
To view the profile card, you can head to your Instagram profile and select ‘Share Profile’. After that, select the pencil icon in the top-right corner of the screen to edit the elements of your profile card.
Once that is done, you can use the options at the bottom of the screen to share your profile with friends or download it to post on other platforms. There is also an ‘Add to Story’ option that will create a rotating two-sided card. This can also be customised.
This new feature can help to make new connections. Instead of sharing your Instagram handle that people may forget, this makes it easier for them to refer to the profile card later and share it with other contacts through their smartphones. For more such updates, subscribe to Unboxed by Croma.
