Only recently, Meta rolled out its AI chatbot across services such as WhatsApp and Instagram. Since then, users have been able to use its generative AI capabilities for various tasks, such as summarising, creating content, generating images, and even translating foreign languages.

That said, Meta is still in the process of adding new features to its chatbot and improving it, based on user feedback. Keeping the same in mind, the company has just introduced a new feature to help users create custom GIFs using the chatbot. Here’s how to go about it

Only those who have been a part of intense group chats know the struggle of scrolling for the perfect GIF to send in. Before you do though, it is crucial to ensure your WhatsApp smartphone app is updated to the latest version.

Step 1: Open WhatsApp and navigate to the chat where you wish to send your GIF

Step 2: Tap on the paper clip icon situated in the message bar at the bottom

Step 3: With the other usual icons in this list, you will also find an ‘Imagine‘ icon

Step 4: Once you do this, you will be prompted with ‘What do you want to Imagine’ with a text bar

Step 5: Type in your prompt, and once you’re happy with it, Meta AI will generate a picture for you

Step 6: You can then find the ‘Animate’ option under your image to turn it into a GIF

Step 7: You can now share this within the selected group chat, or forward it across other chats in your list

When will this feature be available for everyone?

Meta is currently rolling out updates for Meta AI in a phased manner. If you can’t find the Imagine option in your chat yet though, fret not. The company will soon make it available to everyone within the course of the next few weeks.
