This grants Alexa access to a vast amount of information and online resources, like weather updates, news headlines, sports scores, and even educational content, thus allowing it to perform a wider range of tasks and deliver a more personalised experience.

However, Alexa does require an internet connection to do all of the above for you. So then, the question arises- Just how do you connect Alexa to your Wi-Fi connection? Well, check out out this detailed, step-by-step guide to do just that.

How to connect Alexa to Wi-Fi

Whether you’ve just gotten a new Alexa device or need to reconnect an existing smart speaker, here’s how you can easily connect Alexa to Wi-Fi:

1. Download and open the Alexa App via the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.

2. Sign in to your Amazon account through the Alexa app. This should be the same account linked to your Alexa device.

3. Once logged in, tap the “+” icon on the top right corner of the app’s home screen. Select “Add Device” from the menu. Make sure your Alexa is in pairing mode.

4. Then, select the specific type of Alexa device you’re setting up from the list provided.

5. The app will guide you through the specific steps for your device model. This may involve putting your Alexa device in setup mode (usually by pressing a button) and then connecting to the Wi-Fi network that appears on the app.

6. Once you see your Wi-Fi network listed in the app, select it and enter your Wi-Fi password.

7. The app will take a few moments to connect your Alexa device to your Wi-Fi network. Once successful, you’ll receive a confirmation message on the app.

And voila! Alexa is now connected to Wi-Fi and ready to use. You can now explore all the features available via voice commands and enjoy the convenience of a smarter home. Moreover, while Echo devices come with Alexa built-in, many other companies also offer smart speakers that work with Alexa, allowing full voice control functionality.
