How to close all browser tabs on an iPhone

Even If you’re a person who generally finds it easy to multitask with a dozen or so active tabs in your iPhone browser, you may also notice that when you have ten or more tabs open at once, things tend to get chaotic.

It is counterintuitive to have so many tabs open, since you may soon find yourself navigating around in an attempt to find the one tab you’re looking for. So, to make your browsing experience more effortless, here is a quick guide on how you can close all browser tabs quickly and easily on your iPhone.

How to close all browser tabs on an iPhone

Although there isn’t a single way to close all tabs on every iPhone browser app, the following methods will work for two of the most commonly used browser apps:

How to close every tab on Safari on an iPhone

1. Launch the Safari app.

2. You’ll notice an icon for the ‘Tab switcher’ (looks like two squares that overlap) in the lower right corner.

3. Simply tap and hold the ‘Tabs’ icon for a few seconds to bring up a pop-up menu.

4. Now, all you have to do is tap on the ‘Close All Tabs’ option to close every open tab at once.

1. Open the Chrome app.

2. Tap the three vertical dots on the bottom right corner to open the Chrome menu.

3. Now, to close all Chrome tabs, simply tap the ‘Close All’ button on the bottom left.

The steps for closing all Safari tabs on an iPad are the same as on an iPhone, so if you browse the web with your iPad, you can use the aforementioned steps. Meanwhile, if you would like to only close a single Safari tab, simply swipe left on the tab you’d like to close to reveal a ‘Close’ button. Tap on it to close the tab.

Even if you use other browser apps on your iPhone, the basic steps remain the same. Usually, all you need to do is click on the tabs icon and locate the ‘close all tabs’ option to close down all the open tabs. Also, be aware that if you close all tabs, all open web pages will also be deleted, so don’t have anything important open that you may want to come back to later.
