Nothing Phone (2) wallpapers: Elevate your device’s look

Some handy tips to help you pick the right wallpaper for one of the most design-conscious Android phones out there

Nothing Phone (2) wallpapers: Elevate your device’s look

Nothing Phone (2), created by OnePlus mastermind Carl Pei, is one of the few mainstream phones that focuses on design. Emulating Apple’s minimalist design philosophy, every element of the Nothing Phone line has been chosen with care. The phones are beautiful, unique, and will stand out in a crowd, and it’s not just the flashing LEDs on the rear that we’re talking about.

This minimalist design philosophy is, in fact, best represented by the Glyph Interface. The colours, for example, have been chosen to limit distractions, the design of the elements exude a sense of style and cohesion not found in most Android phones, and the font is also unique and unusual, but one that fits well with the Nothing ethos.

If you’re seeking to elevate this look with an appropriate wallpaper, it’s important to look for one that matches the design and aesthetic that Nothing is aiming at. Wallpaper apps you’ll find aplenty, so rather than guide you towards apps you’re already aware of, how about some tips on how to choose the right wallpaper to elevate your Phone (2)’s look?

Simplicity by design

One of the biggest design considerations for the Glyph interface was that it be unintrusive and functional. Choosing simple wallpapers that match that theme is a good idea. Bold colours are fine, but perhaps you need to look for wallpapers without prominent subjects that don’t draw too much attention to themselves.

Monochrome colours that complement the black UI are preferred: colours like dusty browns or reds, or even purples and deeper greens should go well with Glyph. Bear in mind that the Nothing Phone (2) boasts of a high-contrast, 1000-nit, 10-bit OLED display that boasts of incredibly deep blacks and a wide colour gamut. This lets you choose interesting colours and will still lend the UI a sense of depth.

Texture is important

As with the default wallpapers on the Nothing Phone (2), go for wallpapers that focus on texture – the sand on a beach, paint emulsions, cloth, and more. The idea, again, is that the wallpaper is a backdrop to the UI and not a prominent feature of the interface.

Think of the wallpaper like a wall in your home. Generally speaking, the focus is on the furniture and overall ambience, placing a mural on the wall defeats that purpose. That said…

… perhaps you’d like a mural

As with the above analogy, perhaps you’d like a mural on the wall, so to speak – a prominent subject that draws attention to itself. This can be an option if you don’t mind emptying the home screen of all unnecessary apps and arranging them in such a way as to draw attention to the wallpaper.

Look for a wallpaper and subject that matches the phone’s contrasty, monochrome aesthetic. This also includes interesting geometric patterns like fractals that don’t draw too much attention away from the UI elements themselves.

Nothing Phone (2) is one of the most interesting phones you can buy today, especially when it comes to aesthetics. The fact that the designers of the phone put so much thought into every element of the design means that the efforts you might put in to match that aesthetic are usually well complemented.

Think of the above tips as nothing more than simple guidelines to get you started. Feel free to experiment, mix and match styles, till you discover an aesthetic that is wholly you and utterly unique. And do share your experiments with us when you find what you’re looking for!
