How to check if someone has unfollowed you on Instagram

And this doesn't even involve hours of scrolling or stalking

How to check if someone has unfollowed you on Instagram

Instagram has rapidly replaced Facebook as that one platform where everyone stays connected with each other. It doesn’t take much for most of our network, or even those outside it, to remain in touch with us, courtesy of the smartphone. And since tapping the follow button is all it takes, there’s often a good chance you probably don’t realise when someone unfollows you.

But if you’re a creator who keeps a close eye on their follower count, you may want to take a look at who has unfollowed you on the platform. And even if you’re not, there’s no harm in going through that long list of names to see who no longer wants to be on it. But before you begin creating an evidence board for the suspected names, hold up. There are simpler ways to tell who has unfollowed you on Instagram; here’s how to do it.

2 ways to tell if someone has unfollowed you on Instagram

There are two easy ways to determine if you have been unfollowed on the social media platform: manually and using a third-party app. Here is how you go about it:

Manually: While this may seem like the obvious way out, the best way to tell if someone is no longer following you is by typing their name into your list of followers:

Step 1: Tap on the tab with your display picture to open your profile page

Step 2: Select your follower count and wait for it to refresh

Step 3: On the top of the page, you will see a search bar

Step 4: Type in the handle name of the person you wish to look up

Step 5: If they don’t show up, they have most likely unfollowed you

It is also crucial to note that there are other scenarios where the person may not show up on this list. One of them is that they have deactivated their Instagram account. However, if you can still find them in your following tab, they have definitely unfollowed you.

Third-party apps: Another way of telling who has unfollowed you involves installing a third-party app. FollowMeter, available on Android and iOS, can save you the trouble of manually typing out names in your profile. Here’s what you need to do:

Step 1: Install FollowMeter on your smartphone

Step 2: Follow the on-screen instructions and log in using your Instagram credentials

Step 3: Once you’re through, FollowMeter will analyse your account to give you a list of names that have unfollowed you

Step 4: In the unfollowers tab, you can go through these names. If you wish to stop seeing their posts, you will find an option to unfollow them next to their names

While several third-party apps claim to give you an overview of your account details, it is best to go through reviews and conduct a background check before installing them on your device.
