Five simple steps is all it takes

How to change your Apple Watch ringtone

Apple Watch users who often find themselves turning heads in a crowd know the importance of having a distinctive ringtone. And while there wasn’t really an option to change the default tone a few years ago, watchOS 11 brought in several new ringtone options for those in the mood to switch things up. If that’s not quite enough, you can now change other sounds and haptics for various alerts and reminders as well. Here’s how to go about it.

How to change the default ringtone on your Apple Watch

Before you go about trying, ensure your Apple Watch is updated to watchOS 11. Once done, you can follow a few simple steps to get started.

Step 1: On your Apple Watch, and navigate to ‘Settings.’

Step 2: Scroll to find ‘Sound & Haptics,’ and then tap on ‘Ringtones.’

Step 3: There you should be able to find multiple options, such as ‘Ringtone,’ ‘Text Tone,’ ‘New Mail,’ ‘Calendar Alerts,’ ‘Reminder Alerts’ and ‘Default Alerts,’ in the list.

Step 4: Based on your preference, tap on the tone you wish to change.

Step 5: You will find a list of new tones and you should be also able to tap and hear each one of them. A tick mark against your selected option will indicate your current ringtone.

Apple Watch users, who previously had ‘Pebbles’ as their default ringtone, will now be able to choose from other options, such as ‘Focus,’ ‘Jingle,’ ‘Nighthawk,’ ‘Transmit,’ ‘Twirl,’ ‘Windup,’ and ‘Wonder.’ Apart from simply selecting their favourite tone, users will also be able to adjust the volume and the level of haptic feedback based on their preferences.

WatchOS 11: What are some other features to look out for?

Apart from the ability to change your Apple Watch’s ringtone, watchOS 11 also brought forth with it a bunch of other significant features. One of the most awaited changes involved pausing fitness rings and adjusting daily goals. Users now also have the option of accessing insights based on their health with the new Vitals app as well.

Lastly, Apple introduced more widgets to the Smart Stack; these now include Shazam, Translate, Distance, Photos, severe weather alerts as well as Live Activities.
