Luckily, Google Pay allows you to easily change your UPI PIN directly within the app. This guide will walk you through the steps to quickly and easily change your UPI PIN on Google Pay.

How to change UPI PIN on Google Pay

If you’ve forgotten your UPI PIN or simply want to change it, you can easily do so within your Google Pay app. Here’s a step-by-step process for changing or resetting your UPI PIN on Google Pay applicable for both Android and iPhone (iOS) users:

1. Access Bank account settings

2. Choose the desired Bank account

3. Locate UPI PIN management option

4. Recovering a forgotten UPI PIN (if applicable)

5. Changing or setting a New UPI PIN

1. Access Bank account settings

Open the Google Pay app. Tap your profile picture in the top right corner and select “Bank accounts” or “Payments” (depending on your app version).

2. Choose the desired Bank account

From the list of linked bank accounts, tap the one for which you want to change or recover the UPI PIN.

3. Locate UPI PIN management option

Look for options related to UPI PIN management. This might be labeled as “Change UPI PIN” or “Forgot UPI PIN” depending on your situation (forgot vs. wanting to change). On Android, it might be under a three-dot menu.

4. Recovering a forgotten UPI PIN (if applicable)

If you forgot your UPI PIN, tap “Forgot UPI PIN”. You’ll likely be prompted to enter your linked debit card details (last six digits and expiry date). The app will send a one-time verification code (OTP) to your registered mobile number. Enter the OTP to proceed.

5. Changing or setting a new UPI PIN

You’ll now be able to create a new UPI PIN. For enhanced security, choose a strong 6-digit PIN that’s difficult to guess.

Best practices for safe UPI PIN management

You can follow the below steps to ensure your UPI PIN doesn’t get compromised:

Change your PIN regularly: It’s advisable to change your UPI PIN periodically, ideally every few months. This minimizes the risk of someone compromising your PIN over time.

Never share your PIN: Never share your UPI PIN with anyone, including friends, family, or customer support representatives. Google Pay and your bank will never ask for your UPI PIN through calls, texts, or emails.

Avoid using obvious PINs: Steer clear of easily guessable PINs like birthdates, anniversaries, or common number sequences (123456, etc.).

And voila! You’re done. This is how you can either change a new UPI PIN or reset your existing one on Google Pay.
