Subscribing to a service is easy enough on an iPhone. You open the app, tap subscribe, and you’re done. With easy monthly billing and advance notifications, Apple ensures that you’re always informed and on top of subscription payments. But what happens when you want to cancel said subscriptions? Apps usually don’t offer a straightforward way to do this, and neither does the App Store.
The cancellation process is actually quite straightforward and easy to do on an iPhone, but it’s not that obvious to someone who hasn’t used the feature before.
Here’s how to cancel a subscription on iPhone
Say you want to cancel your iCloud subscription. Here’s what you do…
First, open the Settings app, then tap on your account name. This should be at the very top of the Settings menu. On the tab that opens, look for subscriptions and tap on it.
After a couple of seconds, the Subscriptions tab opens up and shows you all your subscriptions in one place. You’ll also find that the subscriptions are classified as Active and Inactive, and you’ll see some additional options for sharing subscriptions.
Active subscriptions are those you’re currently paying for. Apple shows you information about what they cost and when they’ll be renewed. The inactive subscription tab shows subscriptions that you were paying for but cancelled recently.

Tapping on any of the items in these sections will let you manage them. Active subscriptions can be cancelled and inactive ones can be re-started. Note that any active subscription that you cancel will be active till the next billing cycle. You will not be refunded the amount that you were charged, though you can talk to Apple Support if you have complaints.
Cancelling third-party subscriptions
Third-party subscriptions such as those to Prime Video or Netflix cannot be cancelled from within the Settings app or even from within apps installed on the iPhone. This is a quirk of Apple’s policies which disallows apps from letting users manage third-party subscriptions via apps. You will need to head to the service’s website, and unsubscribe from within your browser window.
