Since 2007, Apple has launched plenty of iPhone models. With a new lineup available every year, it can get confusing to narrow down on the iPhones available right now, largely because even with the launch of newer variants, older iPhones continue to officially sell at an affordable price. However, if you’re looking to buy an iPhone right now, here are the variants you can consider.
iPhone 12 series
The iPhone 12 series, was the first lineup to feature 5G support, and bring in features like MagSafe wireless charging. The iPhone 12 series is available in the compact iPhone 12 mini, the iPhone 12, the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPhone 12 Pro Max.
Powered by the A14 Bionic chip, the iPhone 12 series may be dated, but can still be relied on if all you’re looking for is a stable daily driver, which can offer the iPhone experience without burning a hole through your pocket.
iPhone 13 series
Also still relevant is the iPhone 13 series. Again, comprising of an iPhone 13, an iPhone 13 mini, an iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max, the series offers some improvements over the iPhone 12 series, primarily in the performance department thanks to a faster A15 Bionic chip. The iPhone 13 Pro series phones also come with ProMotion (120Hz high refresh rate), for those who want a smoother scrolling experience.
iPhone 14 series
Apple’s iPhone 14 series phones are still very much relevant. They come with the reliable A15 Bionic chip on the base variants, which now include a larger iPhone 14 Plus instead of a mini phone. Meanwhile, the iPhone 14 Pro series offers the best of newer camera features, along with the power of the newer A16 Bionic chip. However, the iPhone 14 series, just like the iPhones before it, still features the older Lightning port.
iPhone SE Gen-3
The iPhone SE Gen-3 was launched in 2022, and features the older iPhone design with a home button and Touch ID, but with newer internal specifications, headlined by the A15 Bionic chip. Being more affordable than the flagship iPhone series, the iPhone SE is the most affordable iPhone right now, making it a good, compact choice for basic users.
iPhone 15 series
The newly launched iPhone 15 series come with newer chipsets for the Pro models which now feature an A17 Pro chip, as well as the non-Pro models which have now been upgraded to the A16 Bionic chip. The iPhone 15, 15 Plus, 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max all feature upgraded 48MP main cameras, along with a new Titanium chassis on the Pro models.
The new iPhone 15 series also come with improved brightness, more curves on the body for better ergonomics and a number of camera improvements, including the ability to convert most normal shots with a subject into portrait shots after taking the photo.
Those are all the iPhone variants you can get your hands on right now. Thinking of upgrading to the new iPhone and want the latest and best? You should be looking at the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Pro series.
