How many times have gotten inside an autorickshaw, asking the driver if he accepts UPI payments, only for him to show you his feature phone and say he doesn’t. While UPI-based digital payments in India have come a long way, and have become much easier to use over the past few years, the requirement of a smartphone remains a major bottleneck for many Indian users who continue to use feature phones.
The new HMD feature phones air to fix that. Armed with built-in UPI support, the HMD 105 and HMD 110 are easy-to-use feature phones which will allow users to make UPI payments without the rather large learning curve of upgrading to a smartphone.
HMD 105 and HMD 110: What’s new?
Both the HMD 105 and HMD 110 come with similar designs. The feature a round camera module on the back, a curved frame and a slightly textured finish which should give the phone some grip when holding it. The choice of colours and design also help the phone stand out among other feature phones.

The phones are 2G devices which come with a 1,000mAh battery and can provide up to 18 days of standby time. HMD also equips the phones with 9 input languages and 23 languages when it comes to text display.
Other features include voice assistance, larger displays, automatic call recording, as well as a built-in MP3 player and cable-free FM Radio. The phones also come with a one-year warranty.
HMD 105 and HMD 110: Pricing and availability
The HMD 105 and HMD 110 are priced at Rs 999 and Rs 1,199 respectively. While the HMD 105 will be available in black, purple and blue colours, the HMD 110 will be available in black and green colours. The phones will be available starting today at leading retailers.
