Using an AI-based chatbot often requires you to go through a couple of layers before you can actually ask it to solve your queries. Whether it is to create an account or simply to log in with an existing one, there’s always a layer for new users, and sometimes even existing ones. However, OpenAI plans to do away with this by eliminating the need to create an account, making it even more simple for users to access the chatbot using their smartphone or laptop. Here’s everything you need to know about the move.
Why has OpenAI eliminated the need to log in to ChatGPT?
According to a statement issued by OpenAI, the move comes after the company’s decision to make the chatbot more accessible to people. The report mentions how more than 100 million people across 185 countries use ChatGPT weekly, and OpenAI has decided to make the process simpler for those looking for a quick solution.

However, despite dropping the log-in page, OpenAI mentions how it will still continue logging user information to improve the model. “We may use what you provide to ChatGPT to improve our models for everyone,” OpenAI states within the blogpost. “Thankfully, you can turn that off in the Settings section — even without an account. So, you know…do that,” it further notes.
Should you still create an account on ChatGPT?
Although simpler, creating an account or logging in with your email ID does have a handful of benefits. For one, you can review your chat history and date back to older prompts. Apart from this, you can also save old chats and revisit them, modify or export them based on your requirements. OpenAI also mentions how having an account makes you eligible for other benefits such as voice conversations and custom instructions. That said, if logging in dissuades you, you now have the option cut to the chase and get to the chatbot.
