Rockstar Games’ early Christmas present for gamers around the world arrived even earlier than expected, as the studio released the first ever GTA 6 (Stylised GTA VI) trailer a day ahead of its expected time. Why the hype? Because this is the first official GTA trailer (for a new game in the series) to come out in over a decade.
The GTA 6 trailer gives us a glimpse into the game, and confirms a lot of what we have already been hearing from leaks and rumours. From a return to a city we haven’t seen since another iconic title in the series and an in-game social media platform, to NPC crocodiles and a fresh protagonist couple, there is a lot to wrap our heads around here.

Before we dive into further details around the game, here’s your first look at the trailer itself. You can check it out on your smartphones, laptops or any other device.
GTA VI trailer: What’s new?
The trailer confirms a bunch of details. The game looks like it is set in Vice City, a fictional setting based on the city of Miami, Florida. Returning to the city for the first time since GTA: Vice City, the trailer showcases what looks like a much bigger open world, with a lot more to do and even more to explore, which is not exactly surprising, given this is a Grand Theft Auto title we’re talking about.
We also see the multiple protagonists approach here, as the game appears to focus on two main characters in a Bonnie and Clyde-esque mission to fill their lives with riches, and more importantly, to do it together. While we do know the female protagonist will be named Lucia, we don’t have the name of her partner just yet. Regardless, what we can expect is more tag-team heist missions, something that was a highlight of GTA V.
Other new additions include an in-game social media app that resembles micro-blogging platform X (previously Twitter). It seems characters (playable and otherwise) will be able to post updates from their lives including photos and text via this in-game platform. Expect it to heavily tie into the missions of the game.
We also see a lot more animals in the game. Beyond the pets and the occasional antelopes and mountain lions of GTA V, we now have birds like flamingos flocking around and in true Miami fashion, crocodiles making their way into human settlements. New vehicles, including what looks like a detailed in-game car customisation mechanism also seem to make a return here. We have seen this before in GTA: San Andreas and GTA V, but GTA 6 could take car customisation further.
When is GTA 6 launching?
All these details bring us down to the final question – When does GTA 6 actually launch? The answer is 2025. With Rockstar giving us no specific month to look forward to, it is safe to assume that the game is still very far away from its release date.

However, with a title as big as this, gamers would want the studio to take their time and release a stable game, something many big titles like 2020’s Cyberpunk 2077, have struggled with in recent years. A hurried launch will only bring more bugs, something you don’t want in a Grand Theft Auto game.
This is not the last GTA 6 trailer
While we don’t expect Rockstar Games to do away with a single trailer of the game before releasing the first GTA title in over 10 years, the name of the trailer also gives away the fact that this is not the last GTA 6 trailer. With the game set to actually launch over a year later in 2025, we will have plenty of time to wait. Expect Rockstar to drop at least a couple more of these trailers meanwhile.
