OnePlus has announced that it will be offering a lifetime warranty on all its phones that may face the dreaded ‘green line’ issue. The new implementation will allow OnePlus users to get a free screen replacement without any hidden charges when they see a green line pop up on their screen.
Here’s everything you need to know about the new policy and how you can make use of it should you need to, if you have a OnePlus phone.
OnePlus Green Line issue: What is it?
The OnePlus green line issue is a vertical bright green line that will randomly show up on a phone’s display and not go away. The green line is frustratingly persistent, and will stay on the screen no matter what app you are in. It is only said to go away when the screen is locked, and the phone is not in use.

With time, if the issue persists, users can sometimes see more vertical green lines pop up, making the legibility of the screen worse.
While there are plenty of ways to keep your screen in great health, like protecting it from impacts and keeping it away from corrosive elements like ocean water, prevention of the green line issue isn’t as easy.
OnePlus explains in a blog post that the green line problem can affect any smartphone with an AMOLED screen.
How OnePlus is eliminating the green line issue on its smartphones
As part of its recently announced Project Starlight, OnePlus will be using a new PVX Enhanced Edge Bonding Layer on the display panel of its smartphones.
OnePlus claims the new tech will ensure the phone and its display panel can withstand extreme climatic conditions across various regions in India, including usability at up to 85-degrees Celsius and at a humidity of 85 per cent. This should significantly minimise the risk of a green line issue developing due to natural causes.
For those who still find a green line plaguing their smartphone display panel, OnePlus will be offering a lifetime warranty on its phones.
