It’s been about three years since Rockstar Games brought back some of the most popular GTA games back from the dead with Grand Theft Auto – The Definitive Edition. This edition essentially included remastered versions of the GTA III, GTA Vice City, and GTA San Andreas.
However, the games opened to a mixed reaction, thanks to some buggy graphics that didn’t exactly recreate the feel of the original games and their era. Now, Rockstar Games is getting back to these remastered titles and giving them a much-needed visual reboot.

A new update to Grand Theft Auto – The Definitive Edition has been rolled out, which come with several fixes to the graphical elements of the game. This includes more accurate lighting effects of the games, as well as the weather effects from GTA San Andreas.
Many actions and animations by the characters (and the elements around them) in the game also get some changes. These include new fire animations, and glass-breaking animations. Well, that makes for one reason to shoot every car windshield you come across!
What about the Netflix games?
Mobile versions of the Grand Theft Auto – The Definitive Edition titles are on offer with a Netflix subscription on both Android phones and iPhones. The good news is, there are no new updates required in these mobile versions of the games, as they already come with these changes.
Anyone with a Netflix subscription can head to the App Store or Play Store, download the Definitive Edition version of GTA III, GTA Vice City and GTA San Andreas, and start playing the games with the new graphical changes immediately.

The new changes are mainly for the Windows versions of these games, as well as the versions for the Sony PlayStation 5/ Sony PlayStation 5 Slim, Sony PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch and the Xbox series of consoles.
The changes aren’t exactly big, but it’s a good way for fans of the series to come back to the classic Grand Theft Auto games while they wait for the next entry in the series – GTA 6.
As we near December, it’s getting close to a year since the first trailer for the upcoming title came out. Unfortunately, no other communication around the game has come out since. Let’s hope next month changes that.
