Google Vids is being rolled out for Google Workspace users

Google’s latest AI-powered video creation tool is here

Google Vids is being rolled out for Google Workspace users

Early this year, Google announced that it is testing a new artificial intelligence-based video creation tool called Google Vids. And after months of testing, the Mountain View-based company is finally rolling out the tool for Google Workspace users. Here’s all you need to know.

Google Vids: What the AI video creation platform can do for you

Now, before we get into just who can access Google Vids, it would perhaps be a good idea to understand just what the tool is.

Google Vids, unlike Google Veo or OpenAI’s Sora, doesn’t generate videos from textual prompts. Instead, it helps you create storyboards for and script videos for presentations, and based on the style you choose, suggests different bits of stock footage, images, and background music.

Additionally, it also helps users add AI-generated voiceovers to their videos, to give them a more professional touch.

Once done, it pieces your video together based on the storyboard, and allows you to add any finishing touches of your own, should you want to. All users have to do is provide it with prompt stating their requirements, and a source document such as a presentation or Google Doc.

Bear in mind that Google Vids is a desktop-exclusive offering. It only offers viewing capabilities on smartphones.

Who can access Google Vids?

Google Vids is currently being rolled out to users on the following plans

1. Business Standard and Business Plus

2. Enterprise Standard and Enterprise Plus

3. Essentials, Enterprise Essentials and Enterprise Essentials Plus

4. Education Plus

5. Gemini Business, Enterprise, Education or Education Premium users

Now, it is important to note two things here.

First – while the Google Vids software itself is available in several languages, all of the AI-powered features on it such as ‘Help me create’ and read-along teleprompter are currently available only in English. Language support for these will be expanded in the future. Just when however, remains to be seen as of yet.

Second, Google will provide users with access to all the AI-powered features on Google Vids only until December 31, 2025. Post which, it may impose usage limits on said features and lock them behind a paywall, something it will inform the users of well in advance as well.
