Presentations require a great deal of work, but Google is testing out a new tool that might help you ace them. The brand recently announced its Vids productivity app for Google Workspace, where users can drop their documents, slides, voice-overs and video recordings into a timeline to create an AI-powered clip.
According to the company, the app is purely designed for work and will be ‘deeply integrated’ with its Workspace suite. Here’s everything we know so far.
Google Vids: What's you need to know
Unlike OpenAI’s Sora or Google Veo, Vids is designed to help users create a presentation based on the data provided by them. It will typically allow you to generate a presentation by describing what you want to Gemini and modifying it based on what you require.
Google, in a blog post, mentions how Vids can “generate a storyboard that you can easily edit, and after choosing a style, it pieces together your first draft with suggested scenes from stock videos, images, and background music.” It further adds how users will be able to create a more accurate presentation based on the right voiceover. They will have the option of either choosing from one of their preset voiceovers or using their own.

Google Vids will be placed alongside other productivity tools like Docs, Sheets and Slides. The brand also goes on to state how it will sport an easy-to-use interface and will be accessible from your laptop or smartphone browser.
When will Google Vids be available to everyone?
Google is currently testing Google Vids with a ‘select group of trusted testers’ enrolled in the Google Workspace Labs. It may be rolled out to a larger audience based on the feedback received by the brand.
Google also introduced a bunch of other Gemini-powered tools not too long ago at Google I/O 2024, including Project Astra and Google Veo. The brand has also begun to integrate AI tools into other services such as Gmail and Google Docs. Apart from this, Google mentions how it is planning to introduce more Gemini-based AI features for its users; however, we might have to wait some to hear more about them.
