Google rolls out Gemini 2.0 Flash to all users amidst DeepSeek’s rise to fame

The AI chatbot market is littered with options today, and that’s a good thing for users. Not only are there several chatbots to choose from, but a competing scenario also means companies are always trying to better their product to attract more eyeballs. Google’s Gemini, one of the front-runners in the AI race, is now updating its AI assistant with Gemini Flash 2.0.

The update will bring a lot of functionality to Gemini, along with quicker, more contextual responses. Here’s everything you need to know if you regularly use Gemini.

Gemini 2.0 Flash: What’s new?

One of the highlights of Gemini is the ability to process a one-million token context window and upload up to 1,500 pages of files at once. We don’t know what that means for the average Joe, but there are perks that are easier to digest.

For starters, Gemini with Gemini 2.0 Flash is faster with responses, meaning you spend less time waiting for responses after your prompt is up. Quicker responses also mean talking to Gemini now feels more seamless, just like ChatGPT’s voice mode.

That’s not all. Gemini 2.0 Flash also includes the improved Imagen 3 image-generation model. The updated model ensures more accurate translation of text prompts into images, as well as more refined details when it comes to textures in images.

The updates will come to Gemini assistant on Android phones, but also to the Gemini app on iPhones and Gemini Web, which can be accessed from practically any other device, including laptops.

The move comes days after DeepSeek, another AI chatbot quickly rose to fame and became one of the most downloaded apps on the US App Store. Unlike ChatGPT, DeepSeek is largely free for the average user, and comes with a hefty feature-set too.

It’s likely that the disruption in the AI space caused by DeepSeek’s entry is what prompted Gemini to up its game for all users, and not just premium subscribers. We hope the move inspires other players like Microsoft’s Copilot and X’s Grok to also step it up when it comes to features.
