Generative artifical intelligence used for text and image generation is all the rage right now. However, Google, with its in-house AI research lab DeepMind, is reportedly working on a generative AI technology which can function as a life coach. Here’s what we know so far.
What can the new AI-powered tool do?
As per NYT, some internal documents reveal that the AI tool can perform as many as 21 different functions, including giving life advice, planning meals, tutorials, financial advice, and more. It appears to be a chatbot similar to Google Bard or ChatGPT. However, the chatbot is being said to focus on questions of a more personal nature, such as those in regard to social or financial well-being.
Google’s Bard also has similar capabilities. However, it has been trained to avoid answering questions related to health and finance, and even legal queries, owing to their highly sensitive nature. It therefore remains unclear whether this will be a standalone tool or incorporated into Bard sometime in the future.

One of the reported prompts that works is as follows – a user has a very close friend getting married in the winter, who was the user’s college roommate. However, the user doesn’t have a job and cannot afford flight tickets and the hotel’s charges, and therefore cannot come. In such a situation what could she do?
When will the tool roll out?
Google has also reportedly been working with Scale AI, a third-party contractor that works with DeepMind on the project. However, a spokesperson from DeepMind told NYT that while Google works with multiple partners on several different projects at any point in time, not all of them are necessarily rolled out.
Therefore, when Google will launch the tool or whether it will launch it on smartphones or laptops and desktops, remains unclear as of yet.
Other AI-powered tools from Google
Google has recently been working on several AI tools to take on OpenAI with ChatGPT and Microsoft’s Bing Chat. For example, it recently began testing a tool internally named Genesis, which can write entire news stories based on the information given to it. It has reportedly already pitched the tool to The New York Times, The Washington Post, and the Wall Street Journal.

It also recently unveiled an AI powered tool called “Search Generative Experience” for Chrome, which can generate key points and summarise online articles, which can be accessed without a paywall.
