Google’s Pixel phones have changed how we look at the world of Android smartphones. While they are known for their clean and bloatware-free user experience, Google has also tried to shun the serious image in favour of fun and customisation on its phones.
The search giant showed its playful side by using colourful power buttons on its Pixel lineup first. Then the brand extended that fun side to Android as well with updates to the Material Design language. Smartphones like the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro showed Google is serious about customisation without distracting itself from its clean interface.

With the release of each new Pixel phone, Google introduces a new set of exclusive wallpapers that are all about being colourful, vibrant, and dynamic. From Pixel 4a through to the Pixel 6 series, Google created “For Fun” wallpapers that were all about clever use of the holepunch camera cutout. With the release of the Pixel 7 lineup, Google’s wallpapers have become utilitarian but not at the expense of the fun that it embodied in the first place.
Google Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro wallpapers
For the release of Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro, Google introduced a new collection of wallpapers titled “Feathers” and they successfully channel the energy of your inner bird photographer. All the wallpapers are credited to ace filmmaker and photographer Andrew Zuckerman, who is also the creator of the 2016 book “Designed by Apple in California.”
Surprisingly, Google didn’t release any new live wallpapers with the Pixel 7 lineup. The Feathers collection of wallpapers uses the plumage of various birds to complement the colour scheme of the Pixel 7 lineup. To diversify these wallpapers further, Google has also added a “light” and “dark” variant for each wallpaper.
A total of 12 new wallpapers were released with half of them intended for the Pixel 7 and the remaining meant for Pixel 7 Pro. While these wallpapers are avian, they aren’t different enough to warrant light and dark versions. You might disagree but here’s a look at the names of each wallpaper from Pixel 7’s Feathers collection and the associated device name:
1. Cockatoo – designed for Snow Pixel 7
2. Pied crow – designed for Obsidian Pixel 7 & 7 Pro
3. Green-winged macaw – designed for Lemongrass Pixel 7 Pro
4. Azure jay – designed for Snow Pixel 7 Pro
5. Seagull – designed for Hazel Pixel 7 Pro
