Google Maps has always been the go-to app when you’re planning an outstation trip. The app is ideal for checking traffic conditions, elevation, street views, and also for creating an entire itinerary for your next trip.
However, until recently, you probably had to go check the native weather app on your phone for an update on the places you were planning to visit. But with this update, you will no longer have to exit Maps for temperature details. Here’s how to do it:
How to check the weather update on Google Maps
Before you begin, make sure you have the latest version installed on your phone. Once you’re all set, follow these steps to get real-time weather updates on the place you’re visiting:
Step 1: Open the Google Maps app on your smartphone or desktop
Step 2: Search for the city or location you’re planning to visit
Step 3: After the page loads, you will be able to see a small weather icon on the top left corner of the screen
Step 4: On tapping this, the window will expand to show you weather details, along with additional forecast details of the month

Google Maps fetches the data from weather.com, and can give you other data available on the website. This includes wildfire information and real-time Air Quality Index around the place. The weather is typically updated on its own to bring you accurate information, and your Maps app will adjust the units of measurement based on your current location or usage.
Who can update to this version of Google Maps?
Both Android and iOS smartphone users can update their Google Maps app to find weather-related information. However, if you don’t find this update on your app yet, don’t worry, as the company is gradually rolling it out to all its users.
