Google users will now be able to double-check their Gemini responses

Here's how to be double-sure of your Gemini responses

Google users will now be able to double-check their Gemini responses

AI chatbots have lent a helping hand to our day-to-day tasks. Whether you use ChatGPT to build itineraries for you, MetaAI for brainstorming or Google’s Gemini for content generation — there’s no denying they save time and simplify every day. But, as everyone already knows, it is not the best idea to rely on artificial intelligence to source information.

That said, several names like Gemini and Meta AI have today ensured real-time information for their users. But to make sure the information you receive is authentic, Google has added an extension to ‘double-check’ these answers.

Google Gemini double-check feature: What is it and how will it work?

Generating responses on Gemini is as easy as adding a prompt. However, the new extension gives users a toggle extension to help them cross-check their AI responses. This means any time you generate a response, Gemini will provide you with the option to double-check with a button below your answers.

Google, in a blog post, states that this will be available on the web and the mobile version of its Gemini app. Apart from this, the brand has also bifurcated responses and highlighted them with colours. Here’s what this means:

Green highlight: If your responses are generated with green highlight, Google mentions how this means there exists content similar to the statement in question. A link will be provided, but Google mentions that it may or may not have been used to generate your answer.

Orange highlight: In the case of an orange highlight, Google Search may have found content that may be different from the generated statement. It could also mean that it hasn’t found relevant content. In case available, Google will also provide a link.

– No highlight: If there’s no highlight, Google doesn’t have enough information to evaluate content. Apart from this, it could also be possible that the statements aren’t intended to convey factual information.

Lastly, Google mentions how tapping a statement will also give the user more information based on what is available online. On doing this, users will get suggested related searches under the responses, and these can be clicked to fetch search results, if required.

When will the double-check feature be available for everyone?

Google has rolled out the feature for everyone using Gemini, and the steps to verify information remain the same for desktop, smartphone and tablet users. But if you still don’t see the option on your Gemini app, you might want to wait as the brand is rolling it out in a phased manner.

The double-check feature was introduced by Google for students using Gemini; however, it seems to be incorporating this on a larger scale owing to the popularity of its AI chatbot.
