Struggling to draft an email? Gmail's AI-powered feature can be your new best friend

This new Gemini feature will turn your rough drafts into well-written emails

We’ve all had days where we’ve struggled to draft an email. And most of the time, it’s hardly a skill issue. But with AI intervention, it has gradually become simpler to manage a well-crafted email using only prompts. Google, at its annual developer’s conference, introduced plenty of changes in the pipeline to its generative AI bot Gemini.

Many of these features were also extended to Gmail and other services, enabling users to make the most of them using artificial intelligence-powered tools. In recent news, Google announced its latest addition along with its Help Me Write feature for Gmail. Titled ‘Polish’, the new AI-powered tool can reportedly transform a rough draft into a well-crafted email.

Google introduces AI-powered 'Polish' feature for Gmail: What's there to know?

Google mentions how the feature will be rolling out exclusively for Workspace or Business customers. Users will simply have to type in 12 or more words in order to generate a well-written draft on Gmail.

The feature will be available within the compose email option on both smartphones and desktops. The company also states how the Help Me Write shortcut, on the other hand, will only be available to eligible users in an empty email draft.

Once a user has typed in 12 or more words, Gemini will offer options to Polish, Formalise, Elaborate or Shorten the pre-written email. Apart from drafting an error-free email, it will also come up with improved options for the times you can’t come up with something creative.

Who can make the most of these features?

Google has extended both Help Me Write, as well as Polish features to web, Android, and iOS device users. However, it is only available to corporate customers or Google One AI Premium users.

It is unlikely for the features to make their way to the free tier; however, Google certainly seems to have a bunch of other tweaks up its sleeve for Gmail in the near future.
