Google Bard now available in Hindi and other Indian languages: Here’s how to try it out

Google Bard was announced a few months ago, with the Google-made AI chatbot open to use for the public in India from February 2023. The AI chatbot rivals ChatGPT, especially excelling thanks to its larger, ever-growing knowledge base that is not limited to what was available on the web in 2021, which happens to be one of ChatGPT’s main drawbacks.

Now, Google Bard has received a massive update, and as a result supports a lot more languages – over 40 languages to be precise. These include Indian languages like Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and more.

Which Indian languages are supported?

Google Bard now supports many languages that are spoken in and around India. These include Bengali, Farsi, Gujarati, Hindi, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.

Additionally, Google Bard also works with Arabic, Bulgarian, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swahili, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, and Vietnamese.

To use Google Bard in these new languages, simply open Bard and start typing your prompt in one of the supported languages, and Bard will reply in the same lingo.

What the support for these new languages means

The support for these new languages opens up Bard to a lot more people across the globe. You can now communicate with Bard in any of these supported languages. So, while your prompts can be in a particular language, you can also expect Google Bard to reply in the language of your choice.

Apart from allowing people from many more regions to use Bard, this is also a handy addition for people who want written extracts, or creative writing in particular languages.

Other new features

Bard can now also let you listen to its responses, also allowing users to adjust responses more easily. Users can also choose between five different tone options – simple, long, short, professional, and casual.

Bard also lets users pin certain conversations and rename them. For coders, conversion from Python code to Replit is also possible. Additionally, users can use images in their prompts, and share their conversations with simple, shareable links. Note that most of these newer features are currently limited to English, but support for more languages will go live later.
