In 2018, Google introduced Art Selfie, which allowed scores of users with internet access to find their art doppelgänger. However, the company has now announced a sequel to the app that will allow you to turn your photos into famous art pieces. Christened Art Selfie 2, the new app will harness generative AI to transform your selfies into different art styles. Here’s everything you need to know:
Google Art Selfie 2: What's new?
The app, which was built out of a prototype by Google’s Artists in Residence program, uses your selfie to create a stylised image around the face. The final results are made to look authentic and will seamlessly blend into the background or the chosen scenario. So, whether you want to scale Everest or wish to be a muse in Monet’s garden, Google, in a blog post, claims that the possibilities will be infinite in the future. For now, users can choose between 25 styles, some of which include Claude Monet, Johannes Vermeer, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir, among others.
What else can you do with the Google Art Selfie 2 app?
Apart from this, Google also mentions how users have an opportunity to learn more about the art style they opt for. “Each style delivers topical facts while your image is generated, and once you’ve transformed your selfie, you can also discover related Stories, Artifacts and more from our partners,” the post reads. Once your selfie has been generated, you can click on Read More to explore everything, beginning from artistic movements to historical periods that have digitally inspired your ‘historic’ look.

Apart from this, Google has also added Art Remix as a feature in various countries that puts your AI prompting to the test. It presents artwork alongside a prompt to describe it, and users can take up the challenge to edit the prompt or twist it and reimagine the photo.
Who can download Google Art Selfie 2?
Google’s Art Selfie 2 app is now available on for Android and iOS smartphone users. It can be found in the Google Arts & Culture app on Android and iOS right under the Play tab. Art Remix, on the other hand, can exclusively be found in the Play Tab on the Google Arts & Culture website and app.
