Gmail introduces an easier way to unsubscribe bulk messages

Yes, we finally have the much-awaited 'unsubscribe' button

Gmail introduces an easier way to unsubscribe bulk messages

Logging into a zero-unread inbox is only satisfying until there’s a bunch of emails that — almost always — clutter it again. While it is exasperating to unsubscribe to every unimportant email singularly, it is essential to maintain an organised mailbox so that you don’t miss out on critical communication. And let’s face it, no one really has the time to bulk delete emails every now and then.

But what if we tell you that Gmail may have (finally) added a button to tackle this problem, making unsubscribing a fairly straightforward task? Here’s everything you need to know about it.

Gmail unsubscribe button: How to use it?

According to an Android Authority report, iOS users can now unsubscribe from emails on the Gmail smartphone app by simply clicking a button. The ‘unsubscribe’ button can be easily located below the subject line of the email. Previously, users had to either scroll down to the bottom of the email to find the unsubscribe button or click on the three-dot menu within the email to locate the option to unsubscribe.

However, this approach allows users to carry out this action without scrolling a great length. Apart from this, the report also suggests that Gmail may not deliver messages that are often marked spam by users. It will determine this based on a “clear spam rate threshold” of 0.3 per cent of emails that are sent.

Who has access to Gmail's unsubscribe button?

As of today, only iOS users have access to the unsubscribe button on Gmail. Unfortunately, Android users may have to wait for this feature. But this isn’t the first time Google has been late to introduce new features to Android users.

Another feature, which was delayed for Android users, involves deleting only the last 15 minutes of your browsing history on the Google app. Late or not, we can’t wait to make the most of this feature and enjoy a (relatively!) clutter-free inbox.
