Sucker Punch Production’s Ghost of Tsushima was one of the best action games of 2020, so it wasn’t even a surprise when the PlayStation exclusive title’s Director’s Cut version was released for PCs four years later in 2024. Since then, the series that will be half a decade old in 2025, seems to only go up in terms of popularity.
After the announcement of both a sequel game titled Ghost of Yotei, and a movie based on the events of the game, we now learn that Ghost of Tsushima is also getting an anime series.

Sony announced that it will be partnering with Aniplex and Crunchyroll to develop a new anime series based on Ghost of Tsushima’s multiplayer mode, titled Ghost of Tsushima: Legends. The new anime series is set to be released on Crunchyroll in 2027, so about two years from now.
Why you should be excited about Ghost of Tsushima: Legends
If an official announcement coming straight from Sony doesn’t hype you up enough, we’re here top remind you that Aniplex is the same entertainment company that’s behind other very popular series including Demon Slayer, Bleach and even Solo Levelling, which was recently renewed for its second season.
It remains to be seen what story the anime will adapt, but it is unlikely to be the same plot as the game, and may not even follow the life of protagonist Jin Sakai after the events of the game.
Instead, we may see the game following other characters in the wake of the events of Ghost of Tsushima, telling the tale of the possible power struggle that took over the island after Khotun Khan’s defeat.
More details about the anime are currently unavailable, but are likely to surface over the next few months. Meanwhile, you can catch up on the Ghost of Yotei trailer and wait for the sequel game, which is coming out for the PlayStation 5 later this year.
