I tried the Find Joe game and it was my great escape for the weekend

As someone constantly in need of some “tea”, my curiosity always gets the best of me. However, this weekend instead of snooping around on people’s Instagram, I decided to channel my curiosity in a game.

Having encountered multiple ads for puzzle-solving mystery games, my inner detective couldn’t help but Find Joe. So, here’s what exactly the Find Joe game is:

What is the Find Joe game and how it is played

This is an adventure game in the Find Joe series where you find hidden objects, uncover clues and solve puzzles to help the character, Margret, solve the mystery of a meteorite with supernatural abilities and move ahead in the story. Each level is a chapter with an intricate narrative, where you have to solve puzzles to reveal a secret in order to move forward.

The game is super simple to understand but requires wit and problem-solving skills. Within a scene, you will be given a list of objects you have to locate. You cannot move to the next level unless you’ve uncovered every object on the list. Additionally, you’ll come across puzzles that target logical thinking so you can unlock new areas of the game and move ahead in the story.

What did I think of the Find Joe game?

I love it when I download a game and can get straight to it instead of having to go through sign-ups. Find Joe doesn’t ask for sign-ups, when you open the game, you’re directly introduced to the characters and there’s a dialogue box setting up the story for you.

I went into this game thinking, “How difficult would it be to find clues and solve puzzles?” Turns out, it’s not particularly difficult. However, some objects are so cleverly disguised, that I had to wrack my brain to find them, or ultimately resort to using the hints provided.

There’s however a catch here. Every hint I used cost me five coins and when I ran out of coins given by the game, I had to purchase them with real money or watch ads.

The puzzles at the end of each level turned out to be trickier than locating the objects listed, and they kept me on my toes. The tact required to get through these challenges was what made the game so interesting to me.

The game introduces several characters who either help Margret to solve the meteorite mystery or hinder her journey. Despite this, the narrative can turn boring after a point. Having to watch ads after each chapter also stopped me from being immersed in the flow of the story.

I appreciated that the game allowed me to go at my own pace without any pressure. But the gameplay did get a bit repetitive and predictable over time.
