Diwali, the festival of light, is often when we get extremely creative about our home decor. While we use common or traditional decorations like lights, diyas, and rangolis to celebrate the festive spirit of Diwali, you can show your digital creative side by using your TV as a digital canvas for festive designs this year.
Your television is arguably the biggest canvas available in your home and with some clever tips and tricks, you can make sure it doesn’t stay idle during this festive season. From vibrant displays of festive design to traditional screensavers, you can turn your TV into part of your festive decor. Wondering how to use your TV as a digital canvas for festive designs? Here’s how.
1. Display art on TV
The easiest way to turn your TV into a digital canvas is by setting it up to display high-quality digital art with festive themes. Many smart TVs allow users to customise the idle screen with digital art when they’re not watching a movie. If you have a TV like Samsung’s The Frame TV then you can use its native Art Mode to display Diwali-themed art and turn your TV screen into a piece of art.

One of my favourite uses for my TV is to use it as a screensaver when I am not watching any content. Diwali is the best time to turn your TV into a more useful decor item by displaying either custom wallpapers or screensavers. You can showcase Diwali-themed wallpapers or screensavers such as glowing diyas, fireworks, or rangoli patterns.

There are many ways to do this but the easiest way would be to download or purchase custom wallpapers or screensavers from the store. You can also choose to display screensavers on TV from apps like Google Photos, YouTube, etc.
3. Festive ambience videos on TV
If digital art or screensavers aren’t your speed then you can try streaming festive ambience videos. These videos are easily available on platforms like YouTube and Netflix and they create a calm and serene environment with glowing candles, soft crackling fireworks, and sparkling lights paired with peaceful or traditional music. You can also shoot your own festive videos by filming your decorated home entrance or the altar and matching them with ambient sound to create a unique festive decor that doesn’t stay still.
4. Festive slideshows
Another way to turn your TV into a digital canvas for festive designs is by creating a slideshow of your favourite festive images and memories. With apps like Google Photos and Apple Photos, you can quickly create slideshows of your family photos from past Diwali celebrations and add background music to personalise your home decor.
