As 5G smartphones continue to grow popular in India, the market seems to be full of 5G devices, from entry-level smartphones to flagships and even tablets, all of which can now natively support 5G networks. However, not all 5G phones perform equally.

A recent study by Ookla reveals the fastest 5G smartphones in the country that you can get your hands on right now. Unsurprisingly, the list largely comprises flagship smartphones, but what’s interesting is the number of devices by two brands – Apple and Samsung.

Apple iPhones reigns supreme

As you see in the list, all of Apple’s iPhone 15 series, and three models of the iPhone 14 series are present. This shows that even last year’s iPhone models continue to be some of the best phones around for 5G performance.

It isn’t a surprise to see the iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max also in the list, given that the new phones come with a newer Qualcomm modem inside to facilitate 5G connectivity. However, the order does seem odd, with the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 15 Plus beating the Pro versions to it. However, these are minor differences, and it is safe to say that the entire 15 series can boast of super-fast 5G performance.

The curious case of the missing Galaxy S23 series

While the list consists of a bunch of Samsung smartphones, weirdly, they all happen to be from the brand’s Z-series of foldable and flipping phones. While we see phones like the Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Galaxy Z Flip4 on the list, the entirety of the Samsung Galaxy S23 series, Samsung’s most powerful flagship lineup right now is missing.

While you can buy any of the phones from the list above for the best 5G performance today, it may not make sense to put your money on an older phone. You also may not want to invest in a foldable phone yet. Those can be quite expensive and currently, don’t feature the strength of regular form factors.
