Everything known ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S25 launch

From multiple models to new cameras, here’s what could be new with the Samsung Galaxy S25 phones

Everything known ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S25 launch

With the year 2025 just around the corner, we have a bunch of new smartphone launches headed our way. Traditionally, the first BIG launch of the year has been Samsung’s flagship phone, and next year it is likely to be the Samsung Galaxy S25 series.

The upcoming phone will unsurprisingly be more powerful than the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, but what big changes and improvements will be implemented, remains to be seen.

While Samsung has not revealed an official release date, there are plenty of leaks and rumours on the web that give us an idea of what to expect from the smartphones. Here’s a quick list of what has come out so far.

A slim Galaxy S25

Perhaps the biggest expected change is the addition of a new phone to the series. In addition to the Samsung Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+ and the Galaxy S25 Ultra, the series is also expected to include a new Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim model.

The new variant will likely be larger than the base S25, but will emphasise on being super thin and light, similar to the approach behind the rumoured iPhone 17 Air.

As a result, the Galaxy S25 Slim will be, well, slim. This includes a new slimmer camera island, that may use some new tech to achieve a reduced profile. Other aspects are expected to be in line with the rest of the series, including the processor, software, and more.

A pale blue Galaxy S25

A new leak has suggested one of the multiple colour options we expect the Galaxy S25 series to come in – Blue. However, the shade of blue in question is reportedly quite pale, one that looks almost grey.

While information on other colour options is not available just yet, the leaked blue colour makes us wonder if the entire lineup will include only pastel/muted colours.

Apple took a similar step last year with the base iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus, both of which implemented a new colour infused glass technology for the back panel of the phones. The result? Variants like blue and yellow barely sported the colour. It’s worth noting that this approach was however dropped for the iPhone 16.

New AI features on the Galaxy S25

One of the highlights of the Galaxy S24 series was Galaxy AI, Samsung’s very own suite of AI features. This included real-time translations, note summarisations and much more. With Samsung one-upping last year’s S24 series with more powerful hardware, it only makes sense for the brand to also throw in some cool new AI features too.

The new phones are expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, which itself comes with a more powerful Hexagon NPU that is claimed to offer 45 per cent more performance over the NPU in the 8 Gen 3. This suggests the new NPU, and by extension the upcoming phones, should be able to process longer and more complex inputs.

Galaxy S25 (higher) prices

The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S25 series smartphones are also expected to cost more than their predecessors. The new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset alone will be a major contributor to the cost of the phones, but Samsung may charge a premium for other additions to the new devices. More details on pricing should be available during the launch event.

Samsung Galaxy S25 launch date

Samsung is yet to reveal the official launch dates for the Galaxy S25 series. But multiple leaks have pointed to an event towards the end of January. This gives us about a month before the launch of the phones – plenty of time for any more eleventh-hour leaks to surface.

Do note that all of the information mentioned above is sourced from leaks and rumours, and we suggest you take it with a grain of salt. More official information, starting with the launch date for the next Galaxy Unpacked event, should be available soon.
