Every Apple Watch ever launched: From 2015 to now

The Apple Watch Series 10 has been announced, taking the popular smartwatch lineup a step further. Widely considered the best smartwatch you can buy, the Apple Watch range debuted in 2015 with the original Gen 1 version. Many generations and upgrades later, we now have different series within the Apple Watch lineup, including the more affordable SE range and the adventure-oriented Ultra lineup.

From 2015 till now, there have been various Apple Watch models. Here’s the list of all the Apple Watch devices ever launched, leading up to the all-new Series 10.

1. Apple Watch Gen 1

The first–ever Apple Watch, the Gen 1, didn’t have built-in GPS for location tracking, instead relying on the paired iPhone for location services. Built-in storage did allow for music to be stored on the device, though.

2. Apple Watch Series 1 and Series 2

The follow–up to the original Apple Watch, the Series 1 and Series 2 came with an updated processor. Series 2 also featured built-in GPS for location tracking, and the series marked the first of the Apple Watch devices co-branded with Nike.

3. Apple Watch Series 3

The Apple Watch Series 3 was launched in 2017, with upgraded hardware, and an option for on-device cellular connectivity.

4. Apple Watch Series 4

With Series 4, the Apple Watch range got a prominent redesign, with a larger display and rounded corners.

5. Apple Watch Series 5

The Series 5 Apple Watch was released in 2019 and featured as much as 32GB of internal storage.

6. Apple Watch Series 6 and SE (Gen 1)

Alongside the Series 6, Apple also introduced the first-generation Apple Watch SE, which was pitched as a toned-down and affordable alternative to the premium number series lineup.

7. Apple Watch Series 7

The Apple Watch Series 7 was released in 2021 with upgraded hardware, including faster charging.

8. Apple Watch Series 8, SE (Gen 2) and Ultra

In 2022, Apple released three different versions of the Watch – the Series 8. The more affordably priced Apple Watch SE (Gen 2).

And, the adventure–oriented Ultra, which is positioned towards endurance athletes, outdoor enthusiasts, and divers, among others.

9. Apple Watch Series 9 and Ultra 2

In 2023, the Apple Watch Ultra 2 was launched as the successor to the Watch Ultra, alongside the Watch Series 9. 

10. Apple Watch Series 10

The latest Apple Watch, the Series 10 was announced in September 2024 and features improved hardware, a thinner design, and the largest ever display on an Apple Watch.
