Every Apple iPhone 15 Pro colour available today

Apple’s iPhone 15 Pro is one of the prettiest and most elegant phones around today. The design hasn’t changed dramatically from previous iPhone generations, but what has changed is the material used for the frame, and as a result of that, the finish of the iPhone 15 Pro.

Interestingly, Apple is now using ‘aerospace-grade’ Titanium to build these phones, a special alloy that they say is the same as the one used in Mars-bound spacecraft! Titanium itself is a very hard metal and one that’s more difficult to work with than aluminium. It also has one of the best strength-to-weight ratios of any metal, making the iPhone 15 Pro the lightest Pro iPhone that Apple has created so far.

Of course, a premium metal requires a premium finish, and that’s what Apple has gone for with the 15 Pros. The fine brushed finish that you see on the frame is a result of precision machining followed by careful sanding, brushing, and blasting to seal the finish. Once the finish is set, Apple achieves those beautiful colours – more on that later – by coating the Titanium using a PVD or Physical Vapour Deposition process.

The PVD process that Apple uses is similar to the one used in industrial and aerospace applications. It’s a complex process involving vacuum chambers, etching, and ionisation, followed by a spray of tiny particles deposited on and fused with the titanium body. This way you get both increased hardness and wear resistance, as well as those subtle and elegant hues.

Apple iPhone 15 Pro colours available today

Natural Titanium: This colour is designed to mimic the tone of natural titanium

Blue Titanium: A deep smoky blue that is new to the iPhone 15 Pro line

White Titanium: A more premium and metallic white than the silvery white that graced the iPhone 14 Pro line

Black Titanium: A more matte and metallic version of the space black we saw on previous iPhones.

While each of these colours are a result of a PVD coating, natural titanium is meant to mimic the look of, well, natural titanium. Since this is a coating, scratching the outer layer will expose the natural titanium underneath.

Because of how Apple coats these devices, the finish takes on the texture and surface finish of the titanium underneath. This looks especially elegant and lends the iPhone 15 Pro an understated matte finish.

Coupled with the almost non-existent bezels, matching wallpapers, and Apple’s timeless design language, these new iPhone 15 Pros are beautiful and understated at the same time. Each one is prettier than the last, and while we’re partial to the White Titanium ourselves, it’s a tough decision to make. Which colour are you going for?
