Elon Musk vs Mark Zuckerberg cage match confirmed; will stream on X

You’d be forgiven for thinking that Twitter being renamed to X after a number of other changes throughout 2023 would be the end of the drama. However, it seems like the platform will now also be streaming what could be the world’s first fistfight between billionaires, and no, we don’t mean in the metaverse.

Elon Musk has just announced on X that the MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) cage match against Meta-co-founder and fellow billionaire Mark Zuckerberg is indeed happening, and that it will be available to stream on X, the newly reformed platform. “Zuck v Musk fight will be live streamed on X. All proceeds will go to charity for veterans,” Musk confirmed in a recent post on the platform.

Zuckerberg also struck back at the announcement, suggesting the fight be streamed on “a more reliable platform that can actually raise money for charity.” Facebook and Instagram, both platforms owned by Zuckerberg, sport a built-in fundraising feature, while X does not. Further details on the cage match are set to be made official soon.

Musk vs Zuckerberg cage match: Everything you need to know

Rumours of a cage match between the two figures first started appearing in June this year. Confirmation of Zuckerberg building a new platform (Threads) to rival Twitter would also add further fuel to the rumour. Musk and Zuckerberg have also clashed on other matters over the years, including politics and Artificial Intelligence. However, possibilities of an actual fight between the two seamed more fiction than anything else. That has changed now with Musk confirming the streaming of the match.

When the match will actually take place is still up in the air. Musk’s newer posts on X suggest he “might need surgery” before the fight and would like to get an MRI for his neck and upper back before confirming a fight date.

The battle between 51-year-old Musk and 39-year-old Zuckerberg will also reportedly take place at the Vegas octagon, a location both billionaires agreed upon via previous posts on Twitter. Notably, Zuckerberg has prior experience in Jiujutsu, a Brazilian fighting style, while Musk has no known training in MMA or any other form of fighting.
