An Inside Out spin-off series is coming to Disney+ Hotstar in December

After dominating the box office, Inside Out 2 has gone on to become one of the highest grossing animated films of all-time, as reported by BBC. Naturally, Disney and Pixar decided to make the most of this popularity by expanding the Inside Out franchise.

The result is a spin-off series, titled Dream Productions, which promises to dive deeper into little Riley’s mind. Set somewhere between Inside Out and Inside Out 2, this limited series takes us back before the new emotions were introduced.

Dream Productions: Plotline

Dream Productions will reunite us with Riley and her core emotions including Joy, Anger, and Jealousy. As Riley is still growing up, her memories need some extra processing. So, Joy and the other Core Emotions send them to Dream Productions, a studio where dreams really do come true – every night, on time and on budget.

However, at the studio, acclaimed director Paula Persimmon faces a nightmare of her own. She is trying to create the next hit dream. In order to do that, she teams up with Xeni, a rather smug daydream director who is looking to step into the big leagues of night dreams.

When does Dream Productions launch?

Dream Productions will launch on Disney+ Hotstar on December 11. The limited series will only feature four episodes. The trailer highlights that it may be a hilarious mockumentary-style comedy like The Office.

This Pixar Animation Studios series has been written and directed by Mike Jones and produced by Jaclyn Simon. The series features voices of Amy Poehler, Maya Rudolph, Kensington Tallman, Liza Lapira, Tony Hale, Lewis Black and Phyllis Smith among others. The music has been composed by Nami Melumad.

In the meantime, both Inside Out and Inside Out 2 are streaming on Disney+ Hotstar. If you do not have subscription to Disney+ Hotstar, the plans start from Rs 149 for three months. It is important to note that this deal only includes streaming via smartphone. If you wish to use other devices like laptops, you may need to go for a different plan.
