Speaker placement may no longer be an issue

Dolby FlexConnect is here to make setting up a home-theatre speakers easier

Building the right sound setup at home, at least one that seamlessly works with your TV is not always easy. Your smart TV has its own speakers, its own audio settings, and sometimes even its own subwoofer. Your home-theatre speakers will have the same. Then, there’s the placement. How do you put all that together? How do you make sure your audio is working at its best possible level? Dolby’s FlexConnect may be the first step towards a solution.

FlexConnect by Dolby Laboratories is a new technology that adds a layer of simplicity to home theatre sound system setups. The feature will allow supported TVs to optimise the audio output (when Dolby Atmos is turned on) for both your speakers and your soundbar. The feature will help users who can’t always set their home theatre speakers in the recommended spots, which to be honest, is most people.

With FlexConnect, TVs will be able to intelligently optimise each speaker’s audio output to neutralise the effects of non-ideal positioning. So, no matter where your home theatre speakers are placed in the room, the feature promises the best possible audio experience.

The feature is also handy if you have interior or furniture elements that are getting in the way of your home theatre speaker setup. With Dolby FlexConnect, you will no longer need to move things around for optimal sound.

Which TVs will get the feature?

The Dolby FlexConnect feature is set to debut with TCL TVs next year, and we think it could be the brand’s flagship C-series that could first sport the feature. However, the feature could soon come to TVs from other brands.
