Only a month after announcing its newest, pocket-sized drone, the DJI Neo, the company has now taken the wraps off its newest addition – the DJI Air S2.
The new drone debuts as a successor to the Air 3 and comes with improved nighttime photo and videography as well as better obstacle avoidance.
DJI Air S3 key features, specs
For starters, the DJI Air S3 comes with a 50MP camera and a 1-inch CMOS sensor for its primary setup. Apart from this, it gets a 48MP camera, 1/1.3-inch sensor, and a 70mm medium telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
The primary camera is capable of capturing 4K/60fps HDR as well as 4K/120fps video. And, if that’s not all, DJI also claims that the file sizes are now 30 per cent smaller compared to its predecessor.
The drone comes with 42GB of built-in storage which can be expanded via a microSD card. Moreover, the drone can accommodate 45 minutes of flight time and users will additionally be able to wirelessly transfer files to their smartphone sans the need of laptop connectivity.

The Air 3S is also equipped with six sensors for omnidirectional obstacle-sensing that the company claims are great for low-light flying. It also makes for the first DJI drone to get a front-facing LiDAR sensor.
Other features include DJI’s ActiveTrack 360-degree flight mode, where the drone can automatically track and follow an object or person.
However, this time around the company has also brought forth a new Subject Focusing feature that can keep a ‘sharp’ focus on the subject during manual flights or if it moves off-centre. According to DJI, the new feature allows a pilot to focus on the more ‘creative aspects’ of a shot, such as the composition or the camera movement.
Lastly, the drone weighs only 724 grams, making it ideal to brave medium gusts of wind, up to 20 to 28 kph.
DJI Air S3: Price and availability
The DJI Air S3 ships with a DJI RC-N3 remote control. It is currently only available on the brand’s official website and across select locations, including the US and Europe.
The drone is priced at $1,099 (roughly Rs 92,300) to start with, but you can also invest in its FlyMore Combo priced at $1,399 (roughly Rs 1,17,500). The combo comes with additional accessories as well as batteries for those who want to enjoy extended fly time.
