Dell announced two new laptops across its Inspiron and the fan-favourite XPS series in India today. The new laptops, the first Dell machines to be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon chipsets, are the brand’s most powerful AI-ready laptops. Moreover, they pack some serious battery claims, that may mean not having to carry around your charger for daily commutes.

Here’s everything you need to know about the new Dell XPS 13 and Dell Inspiron 14 Plus, including price, specifications, features, and more.

Dell XPS 13 (2024)

The new Dell XPS 13 is Dell’s slimmest and lightest XPS laptop yet, coming in at 14.8mm, and weighing just 1.17kg. There is a 13-inch QHD+ screen with Gorilla Glass 3 protection. We also get a new Tandem OLED display, something we saw on the M4 iPad Pro earlier this year. The tech combines two layers of OLED panels to offer better efficiency and also more brightness.

Powering the laptop is the new Snapdragon X Elite, an Arm chipset that boasts of powerful AI capabilities and significantly better battery life. The NPU (Neural Processing Unit) on the laptop is able to clock 45 TOPS (tera operations per second), right on the device.

That kind of AI prowess powers some impressive features including Windows Studio effects, but also real-time language translations and text-to-image generation using Cocreator. All these use-cases also leverage the NPU by shifting AI loads away from the CPU and GPU, freeing them for other operations.

Other specifications on the Dell XPS 13 include the brand’s signature futuristic design, with an edge-to-edge keyboard, a seamless trackpad on the bottom, and capacitive touch controls on the top row. The laptop also comes with up to 32GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB SSD storage. Dell also claims the XPS 13 can stay alive for 27 hours on a single charge, which mean once-a-day charging for many users.

Dell Inspiron 14 Plus (2024)

Built for versatility, the Dell Inspiron Plus is a compact laptop with a touchscreen, that still maintains a thin and light design. The laptop has a 14-inch QHD+ anti-glare IPS display panel with 400nits brightness and Dolby Vision certification.

The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus also comes with a fingerprint reader, along with an IR-facial scanner for Windows Hello. Users can also leverage Dell’s always-on sensing tech, that lets the laptop wake itself up when you come near it. Thanks to the new chip, the Inspiron 14 Plus offers up to 21 hours of battery life (for local video playback) and 15 hours of battery life during 4K streaming.

Pricing and availability

The Dell Inspiron 14 Plus starts at Rs 1,15,590, while the flagship Dell XPS 13 starts at Rs 1,39,990. Both laptops will be available starting today at Croma and other leading retail outlets.

Some other AI PCs in this segment include the Samsung Galaxy Book4 Pro, or the new Asus ZenBook 14, both of which however, are not Copilot+ certified laptops.
