This year’s CES 2025 has had some big announcements right on day one. From Nvidia’s RTX 50-series GPUs to Intel’s Arrow Lake chipsets for laptops, there is a lot to unpack from the event. However, one of the biggest surprise announcements comes from Dell.

The PC maker just revamped its entire branding strategy across the laptops segment, making popular sub-categories like the XPS series, Latitude series and Inspiron series a chapter in Dell’s history books. Moving forward, Dell will have a brand-new branding strategy, for both its laptops and desktops.

Dell revealed in a media briefing that 74 per cent of consumers actually abandon tech purchases because of branding related complications that they cannot wrap their heads around. On that note, the company has announced a new unified branding system.

Enter the Dell, the Dell Pro and the Dell Pro Max series laptops and desktops. Every Dell laptop you see from now on (except the Alienware gaming series) will now fall into one of these three categories.

Dell: For everyday use, including play, school, and work.

Dell Pro: Designed for professional-grade productivity.

Dell Pro Max: Built for maximum performance.

Each category will also have Base, Plus and Premium variants which will determine the class of configurations you will find on the exact machine you want. For instance, if you’re a school/college student who wants the best performance without overspending, you can look at the Dell Premium.

Of the new sub-categories, Dell has introduced the Dell Pro series first, kicking things off with the Dell Pro Premium. Available in 13 and 14-inch sizes, the Dell Pro 13/14 Premium is a performance-oriented thin-and-light laptop, that’s powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 Gen-2 processor.

It comes with a Magnesium Chassis, a 16:10 Tandem OLED display, Intel Arc graphics, up to 32GB RAM and up to 2TB SSD storage, and a claimed 21.2 hours of battery life.

The Dell Pro Max, on the other hand, will be offered in 14-inch and 16-inch variants, with support for QHD+ displays and Nvidia’s RTX 2000 Ada Generation Laptop GPUs. Lastly, the Dell 14 Plus and Dell 16 Plus will be Copilot+ devices, powered by the Intel Core Ultra Gen 2 chipsets and available in 2-in-1 form factors with 16:10 touchscreens, up to 32GB RAM and 2TB SSD storage.

Other improvements across the board include user-replaceable batteries and modular Type-C ports across the series, both of which will make repairs much easier.

Dell is yet to announce pricing for any of these models, as well as availability in regions including India.
