Apple iPhone 15 Pro series gets its next console game with Death Stranding: Director’s Cut

One of the best parts of the new iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max was the A17 Pro chipset that powered the smartphones. Armed with hardware-accelerated ray-tracing, the chipset supports console level titles, right on the phone, completely on-device.

Apple showcased the capabilities of the iPhone 15 Pro’s console-level gaming by running Resident Evil Village on the device. However, it was the only console title to be available on the phone. That is set to change soon.

Kojima Production’s hit title Death Stranding (2019) is now set to come to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. The game, developed originally for the Sony PlayStation 5, as well as the Sony PS4 and Windows, will be getting a full-fledged port for iOS. Here’s everything you need to know.

What is Death Stranding: Director’s Cut?

Death Stranding is an action video game by Kojima Productions, the studio behind popular games like the Metal Gear series and Silent Hill. The game, originally made for Windows and PlayStation consoles, later got a Director’s Cut edition for the PS5. This version of the game is the one coming to iOS.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is also set to come to macOS later, allowing M3-powered MacBooks and Macs to run the game, also thanks to hardware-accelerated ray tracing. However, no timeline on a macOS release is live yet. It also is not yet confirmed if M1 and M2-based machines will be able to run the game.

That said, the iOS version of Death Stranding is set to go live next week. You can already find an App Store listing for the game. The price of the game is Rs 1,999 in India, whereas the US version of the title on iOS will cost USD 19.99.

Who will be able to play Death Stranding: Director’s Cut?

The game will be available only to iPhones powered by the A17 Pro chipset, which is the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max. iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus users will not be able to run the game.

However, if you are a fan of the series, you can still enjoy Death Stranding on other platforms like the Sony PlayStation 5, capable Windows-based gaming laptops, or even a gaming desktops.
