Here's how an AI model is being used to guide other AI models

DALL-E 3 launched for aspiring AI artists

It is widely known that conversational AI tools, such as Open AI’s ChatGPT and Google Bard are extremely useful for text generation purposes. Similarly, for image and video generation, one has DALL-E and Midjourney. What’s cool with ChatGPT and DALL-E though, is that they can both be accessed on smartphones as well as laptops.

However, the two sets of tools are used for very different purposes. Moreover, the results one gets, particularly from the latter, depend purely on how detailed and accurate user prompts are.

Well, OpenAI has decided to help things along and released the latest version of its image generation tool, DALL-E 3. One thing to note is that this new AI tool features ChatGPT integration to help with prompts. Intrigued? Read on.

Why DALL-E 3 may just be the next big thing

Image generation tools such as DALL-E are not entirely accurate and require highly detailed prompts to generate realistic images. So much so, that the skill of giving accurate prompts to such tools, also referred to as “prompt engineering” by some, is turning into a recognised profession. One which requires training as well. However, users can now opt out of the same.

All one has to do is key in a short prompt on the tool. ChatGPT will then expand on the prompt on its own, making it as detailed and descriptive as possible. The prompt thus generated will provide DALL-E 3 guidance on how to generate the image.

The ChatGPT integration is not the only interesting bit on DALL-3 though. OpenAI has also provided it with mechanisms to reject prompts for explicit images, as well as for those images that may copy styles used by existing artists, and even portray known public figures. Not just that. Artists who use DALL-E 3 to generate images, can also opt out of having them used for training future versions of the generative AI tool.

OpenAI will release DALL-3 to ChatGPT Plus and ChatGPT Enterprise users in October, followed by Research labs and API service users. If and when a free-to-use version of the tool will be released to the public, remains unknown as of now.
