Microsoft rolls out Copilot+ features for eligible AMD, Intel devices

If you are someone following the AI space, then you would have heard about the treasure trove of AI features that Microsoft has been working on for Windows-powered PCs, called Copilot+. Now, the OS giant has announced that these much-awaited features are now coming to eligible AMD and Intel powered devices. A selection of these features debuted on Snapdragon X series PCs earlier. Here’s a quick run down of what you can expect and check if your device is eligible to access these features.

What does Copilot+ have to offer?

Let’s start off with the accessibility features enabled by Copilot+. The first on the list is Live Captions. With this, you will be getting real-time translations in English for AV content, which include virtual meetings, podcasts, and video playback in English from 40+ languages.

If you are someone working with simplified Chinese, you will soon be able to use Live Captions on AMD and Intel-powered PCs as well, as Snapdragon X powered PCs already have it.

Another feature which was on Snapdragon X powered PCs, now coming to Intel and AMD powered PCs is Voice Access. Using this, users can communicate with their PCs in a more natural and descriptive language. As mentioned by Microsoft in their blog post about the release, this feature will be available on Intel and AMD powered PCs later in the year.

Lastly, we have Cocreator in Paint and Restyle Image and Image Creator in Photos, aimed at taking the photo processing game of these PCs to the next level. By coupling text-based prompts and freehand drawing in Cocreator in Paint, users can do more than what they would have imagined in this age-old program. Think of it like adding an AI image tool to Paint.

With Image Creator users can generate images using text based prompts, and Restyle Image allows them to transform their existing images into oil paintings, sketches or modern art styles, with just a few clicks. This will be the resident image generator for the users of Windows PCs.

Who can access Copilot+ PC experience and how?

Microsoft is rolling out these features on the PCs with AMD Ryzen AI 300 series and Intel Core Ultra 200V. They are already available for the folks running the Snapdragon X series processors.

As per Microsoft, some of these features will be available via the March 2205 Windows 11 non-security preview update. To get the update got to Settings > Windows Update and turn on “Get the latest updates as soon as they’re available.” Then select “Check for updates” to download and install the March non-security preview release.
