Nothing has become a carved a market for itself when it comes to smartphones and audio accessories, thanks to launches like the recent Nothing Phone (2a) and the Nothing Ear (a) earbuds. However, the brand’s more affordable tech is launched under the CMF brand banner. Now, CMF has confirmed that it is working on its first smartphone, and that makes things very interesting.
Here’s everything we know about the CMF Phone 1 so far, and what you can expect from the phone ahead of launch.
CMF Phone 1: What to expect?
For starters, the CMF Phone, which might just be called the CMF Phone 1, is likely to look nothing like any of the Nothing Phones. A small teaser by the brand’s social media handles teases a device that looks like the brand’s CMF Buds Pro earbuds, complete with what looks like a rotatable dial on the corner of the body.

The phone will also at least be available in the signature CMF orange colour, which has also been seen on other CMF products. This should give the device a unique look, no matter what segment it launches in. While it won’t be transparent like the Nothing Phone variants, the design will likely still be one that sets itself apart.
As per multiple leaks and rumours, the phone is likely to be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 chipset, and may launch with Android 14 onboard, although it remains to be seen if the device will feature the Nothing OS skin, or stick to stock Android.
Leaked images of the CMF Phone also suggest there will be no Glyph lights on the back of the phone, which makes sense, considering the Glyph Interface is a signature ‘Nothing Phone’ feature, and this phone isn’t a part of that series. The lack of lights will also help keep the upcoming smartphone affordable.
The CMF Phone 1 is also expected to pack a 6.67-inch FHD+ OLED display panel with 120Hz refresh rate, along with a dual rear camera with a 50MP main camera. A 16MP front camera will also likely complete the camera setup.

Other expected specifications include 8GB RAM, 256GB storage, a 5,000mAh battery, and for the first time in the brand’s history, a removable back cover, which should make battery replacements and basic repairs much easier.
Of course, all of this is yet to be verified by CMF itself, which is unlikely to happen until the phone launches, so we suggest you take this information with a grain of salt. The CMF Phone 1 also currently doesn’t have a launch date, but the brand does say it plans to launch the smartphone soon. So, hopefully we don’t have to wait for too long to find out.
