One feature that did the rounds the most, and perhaps still is after the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S24 series, is Circle to Search. Handy as it is, many Android loyalists from around the world expressed their concerns over how it was only available on the S24 series, and the Pixel 8 and Pixel 7 series of smartphones.
Well, that’s all set to change. The feature has now been introduced on a slew of older devices. Here’s just which ones they are.
Which devices will receive Circle to Search?
Google’s CEO, Sundar Pichai, confirmed in a post on X (Formerly Twitter) that the feature will be making its way to the Pixel 7a, Pixel 6a, Pixel 6, as well as the Pixel 6 Pro via an over-the-air update. That’s not all, though.
The company has also confirmed that the feature will be rolled out for the Pixel Fold and Pixel Tablet in the coming days, although the latter two devices aren’t on sale in India. Fret not, though. Google’s older Pixel devices aren’t the only ones that will be receiving the feature.

Samsung just started to roll out the feature to several of its devices today as well, via the Android 14-based One UI 6.1 update. These include the Samsung Galaxy S23, S23 Plus, and S23 Ultra, as well as the S23 FE. That’s not all. Users of the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5 and Fold5, along with the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 will also be able to use the feature on their devices in the coming days.
What Circle to Search is, and how to use it
In case you missed it, Circle to Search is an extension of Google Search, which allows you to search for anything on your smartphone screen on the spot. That is to say, without having to switch apps. How?
Well, it’s really simple. Tap on and hold the home button on your Android device to trigger the feature. Once this happens, all you have to do is use your finger (or a stylus) to circle any object on the screen. It could be text, an icon, a still from a video, or even a specific part of an image. Here, a small section will pop up from the bottom of the screen, and give you information on whatever you highlight with the circle.

The feature is extremely easy to use, quick and efficient, and if we may say so ourselves, really fun to use as well! If you happen to use any of the devices mentioned above, do give it a whirl!
