I tried Chiki’s Chase, a simple game that keeps you coming back for more

In our fast-paced lives, there’s little to no time set aside for relaxation. And so, mobile games have become a simpler way to decompress after a long day at work.

It’s an easy escape available at our fingertips for some much-needed stress relief. Whether it be through immersive storytelling, exciting challenges or social interactions, games provide us a chance to unwind and relax.

Chiki’s Chase is one such side-scrolling runner game that I came across. It is perfect for a quick break without requiring significant commitment.

What is Chiki’s Chase?

Chiki’s Chase is an endless runner game about a character named Chiki who has to dodge obstacles, beat enemies and collect coins while running home. The aim is to survive as long as you can while you perfectly time your jumps and evade attacks.

With a retro pixelated background and sound effects of old-timey games, the nostalgia hits hard with this game.

At first glance, it might look simple but it will test your reflexes and patience while you build your skills to win this game. If you’re a casual gamer or a fan of arcade-style games, this one just might be the one for you.

What did I think of Chiki’s Chase?

Even as someone who rarely indulges in games, I found Chiki’s Chase easy to play with its simple controls. I could jump right into it without giving it a second thought.

The game starts easy enough, but the difficulty level increases the further you go, with new enemies being introduced. It kept me on my toes and made my score feel more satisfying. It did get frustrating that quick even though I am not used to fast-paced games. But once I got the hang of it, the higher levels kept me hooked.

When you die in this game, you start from the beginning, and no two runs are the same – making the game feel unpredictable and fresh.

What I liked the most about this game are the characters Chiki crosses paths with. Each comes with their unique personalities and the upgrades and power-ups they offer. While the game is engaging for large parts, it does get a bit repetitive, and not everyone will like that.

Being a free game, there are ads on the screen, but they are placed in a way that doesn’t interrupt you while you’re playing. I wish more free games would place ads in a way that wouldn’t frustrate the players.

I enjoyed this game; however, I think Chiki’s Chase might not for players looking for an immersive storyline or variety as this game only has a singular game mode, and no extra missions or side quests.
