With the daily grind comes the need to stay on top of things and organised, and more often than not, we rely on tech for that extra helping hand. From setting alarms for a water break to reminders for a boring chore, smart assistants have made lives easier over time.
Keeping this need in mind, OpenAI has rolled out a beta version of ‘tasks’ a feature that will help ChatGPT set reminders for your errands. Here’s everything you need to know, and how this will work:
ChatGPT task feature: What's there to know?
The rapid evolution of OpenAI’s chatbot has made it a worthy conversational partner. In fact, ChatGPT also leverages its ‘memory’ feature to remember details about your life that you may have shared in your discussions.
However, this new feature takes things up a notch by scheduling reminders for tasks that you may otherwise assign to a smartphone assistant. Whether it is setting a reminder to turn in an assignment or to pick up laundry, ChatGPT will soon be able to alert you of your routine chores.

Users will be able to choose between one-time and recurring tasks, and tasks can be managed within the chat thread itself (only on the web version). Once completed, ChatGPT will alert the users on their web, smartphone or laptop app. For now, users only have a limit of 10 active tasks that they can run simultaneously.
ChatGPT task feature: When will this be available to everyone?
As of today, OpenAI hasn’t stated if the feature is a premium or a free one. So far, it is available for those enrolled in the beta program with Plus, Pro, and Teams subscriptions.
Being able to schedule tasks will certainly put a spin on ChatGPT’s functionality. This is because the AI chatbot could earlier only respond to tasks in real-time instead of planning for the future. However, this feature in place makes ChatGPT an all-inclusive tool for those relying on it for business or simply for users on the go. This also elevates ChatGPT’s part beyond the conversations and expands its options to handle more in the future.
